Typical Packing List for 4-Day Hiking Trip to Spain
Rucksack (usually 35+8 litres)
Lightweight shoes or sandals
2 x pair socks
2 x polo shirts
1 x underpants
4 x handkerchiefs
T-shirt + sports shorts (for sleeping, pool and casual wear)
Toiletries (shaving foam, shower gel, toothpaste, deodorant, sun cream)
Toothbrush + comb + razor
Personal hygiene kit (loo paper + hand gel)
Sunhat
Sunglasses
Camera (+ spare battery)
Mobile phone
iPad + charger + adapter + SD card reader
Guide books
Map + compass
Reading book
Passport
Travel documents
Snacking food (e.g., 6-12 cereal bars)
Water purification tablets
First-aid kit
Survival bag
Head torch (+ spare batteries)
Whistle
Small money container (for currency swapping with wallet)
Lightweight fabric bag
Foam seat
Pen
All the above should weigh no more than 7 or 8 kg
Plus, I wear on the plane:
Walking boots + walking socks + pair socks
Trekking trousers + underpants
Fleece jacket + polo shirt
Wallet + belt + handkerchief
Car keys + house keys

If I might be staying in a refugio in the mountains, I would add:
Sheet sleeping bag (polyester)
Trekking towel
For a winter or high mountain trip to Spain, I would add:
Waterproof jacket (packable)
Waterproof trousers
Thermal long johns and base layer (replacing T-shirt and shorts)
Spare walking socks
Woolly hat
Gloves
